Deutsche Bank to handle Bitpanda’s Fiat transfers in Germany

Austrian cryptocurrency exchange Bitpanda has entered into a strategic partnership with Deutsche Bank, Germany’s largest financial institution, to deliver real-time payment solutions for its users. This collaboration aims to facilitate seamless banking solutions for incoming and outgoing transactions within Germany. According to a press release dated June 4, the integration of Deutsche Bank’s API-based account solutions will grant Bitpanda access to German IBANs.

Heinrich Frömsdorf, a media spokesperson for Deutsche Bank, emphasized that this partnership represents a move to penetrate new market areas. Despite this venture, Deutsche Bank maintains a cautious stance, indicating no immediate plans to expand its list of partnerships within the crypto industry.

The press release also highlighted that Deutsche Bank already meets Bitpanda’s operational needs as its European Hausbank, providing cross-currency solutions in Austria and Spain. Bitpanda CEO Lukas Enzersdorfer-Konrad lauded Deutsche Bank’s willingness to engage with new players in the financial sector, noting that this openness has been crucial to their ongoing partnership.

Bitpanda’s entry into the German market was marked by its acquisition of a license from the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) in 2022, allowing the crypto exchange to offer its services in Germany.

In related news, crypto.news reported in mid-April that Landesbank Baden-Württemberg (LBBW), Germany’s largest state-backed lender with over $350 billion in assets under management, plans to introduce crypto custody services for institutional and corporate clients in the second half of 2024, also in partnership with Bitpanda.
